Level 2: Career Planning and Job Shadowing

After learning about careers with PCHS in the Passport Series, returning participants will have the opportunity to shadow PCHS employees in their chosen area(s) of interest. Participants may shadow for a total of 18 hours—that’s 5 days—either consecutively or on mutually agreed-upon dates. Most disciplines described in Level 1 are available for job shadowing, and you may choose to split your time with employees in different positions.

On the first day, you will complete required training on PCHS policies, including HIPAA compliance. Then, you will meet with a member of the HR team to discuss career goals and options to ensure that you get the most out of your job shadow experience. Our HR professionals can explain the requirements for each position and next steps to pursue a career in health care.

During the remaining four days, you will spend your time observing PCHS employees in your chosen area as they perform their essential job duties. At the conclusion of your job shadow experience, you will receive a Youth Volunteer Program participation certificate.
