Care to Jazz History
Care to Jazz is PCHS' signature
fundraising event held annually in July featuring entertainment from
some the Northwest's premier jazz performers. Preparing to enter its 7 th year
in 2008, Care to Jazz has raised more than $138,000 since its inception
in 2002, with nearly $82,000 benefiting the Edwin G. Tegenfeldt, MD
Patient Care Fund.
The first five years of the event were
a Friday night dinner and auction at the Silverdale Beach Hotel. In 2007, the event made its first step toward becoming a full on
jazz festival weekend when it added a Saturday concert on the green at
McCormick Woods Golf Course in Port Orchard.
The format of the festival weekend is
simple. Friday evening, dubbed the Gala Benefit, includes a
delectable buffet dinner outside on the patio of the Silverdale Beach
Hotel overlooking the exquisite Dye's Inlet, no-host cocktails, live and
silent auctions and two jazz performances. Saturday's Jazz in the
Woods is an afternoon concert at which guests sprawl out over the
driving range at McCormick Woods - don't worry, the range is closed
for the day - and enjoy four or more jazz performances, burgers,
brats, and beer and wine. It's a total blast for the entire family!
See what
happened last year!
