Behavioral Health Services
"Every day we see
patients who would benefit by the services of a skilled
behavioral health clinician."
- Dr. A. Douglas Felts
Chief Medical Officer
Peninsula Community Health Services provides behavioral health services
to clinic patients through a collaborative partnership with Kitsap
Mental Health Services. By integrating behavioral health assessment and
treatment into the primary care setting, health outcomes are improved
f or patients presenting in the clinics with depression and other
emotional/behavioral problems.
PCHS is a founding member of the Kitsap County Behavioral Health
Alliance, whose mission is to develop a collaborative public/private
system of accessible, comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health care
in the county. Other founding partners include Kitsap Mental Health
Services, Kitsap County Health District, Harrison Medical Center, Kitsap
County Department of Personnel and Human services, Kitsap County
Sheriff’s Department and the Kitsap Juvenile Department.
In 2006, the Alliance was awarded grant funding through the Washington
State Health Care Authority that enables PCHS to provide direct services
to patients as well as move toward a coordinated care system.
With behavioral health specialists stationed at the Bremerton and Port
Orchard medical clinics, PCHS is able to connect with patients who would
benefit from these services at the ground level.
